The Cathedral of Almeria
One of the most important artistic monuments in the entire province of Almeria, and also one of the most prominent in Andalusia due to its uniqueness and relevance after more than five centuries as the nerve centre of the capital of Almeria.
The current building, which was built on a previous church, dates back to the 16th century and constitutes a truly unique example of a cathedral-fortress, of which there are hardly any cases on the entire continent. Hence its low height compared to other cathedral temples.
In terms of art, the cathedral moves between Gothic and Baroque, without skipping the Renaissance, that is evident in the magnificent doorway of its main entrance. It is worth visiting its interior, enjoying its cloister and being moved by its Gothic vaults and baroque altarpieces.
Playa De Los Muertos
Los Muertos is a totally straight huge beach over a kilometer in length, and has the clearest and bluest water of the Nature Reserve. The sand is composed of pebbles that are becoming thinner as we approach the water.

Pulpí Geode
The Pulpí Geode is one of those things to see in Almería that go unnoticed by most, as it has remained hidden under the earth for thousands of years .
A geode is a formation of natural crystals that arises underground due to the filtration of water and the action of different minerals, but they rarely reach the beauty, dimensions and incomparable splendor of the Almeria one. A privilege that we have the honor to guard, enjoy and protect!
It was not until 1999 when a group of researchers discovered it by surprise in an old abandoned mine called Mina Rica , in Pulpí, a small town in the Sierra del Aguilón , very close to the Almeria coast . Descending to the geode is a unique experience available to the whole family.

The Tabernas Desert
The Tabernas Desert is one of the most special places in the province of Almería , as it can be considered a unique landscape in all of Europe . So much so that even Hollywood filmmakers set their sights on these arid lands for years to shoot their films.
So, you can choose to enjoy this magical desert through the movies or travel to it and be the protagonist!
This area is located around the municipality of Tabernas and extends across more than 280 km2 , forming plains, caves, gorges and other peculiar land formations that make up a landscape that will leave you speechless.
If you are a nature lover, this is your place, because you can see some endemic plant species and if you like the Wild West , too, because it houses old movie studios now converted into theme parks . Ideal for everyone!

The Alcazaba
The city of Almería extends along the Mediterranean, crowned by its spectacular citadel from the Andalusian era, which already has more than a millennium of history. The complex, declared an asset of cultural interest, currently has the remains of a 15th century castle ordered to be built by the Catholic Monarchs and up to a kilometre of walls that join 7 towers that have witnessed a thousand historical events in their defense of the city over the centuries.
In its day, the Alcazaba of Almería was the largest fortress built by the Arabs in the Iberian Peninsula, and today it remains an ideal place to travel back in time, learn about the history of the city and enjoy the impressive views it offers thanks to its location at the top of the San Cristóbal hill.
The best way to access the Alcazaba of Almería is on foot, touring the interesting historic centre of the city that has numerous streets and buildings of great beauty. But if you prefer, you can also take the nº 1 city bus line.
Vélez Blanco
Another of the essential towns to see in Almería to know its true essence is Vélez Blanco. Because Almería is much more than the coast, the mountains also have surprises to discover.
This white town can boast an enormous wealth of heritage made up of its many churches, palaces, fountains and, especially, the Fajardo Castle, built in the 16th century and declared a National Historical Monument.
Ah! And delicious gastronomy! Try their game stews and mountain dishes that are far from the classics of the Almeria coast. You will want to return.

Cabo de Gata
Cabo de Gata Nature Park is the great jewel of the province of Almería , as it has more than 50 kilometers of completely virgin coastal cliffs , wild beaches with crystal-clear waters and small white towns that have managed to avoid the urban development that destroyed other destinations along the Mediterranean coast.
Visiting the nature park is a great decision regardless of the time of year, since the sun is almost guaranteed, so you can enjoy the sea by taking a bath or walking along the numerous routes that dot the beaches and cliffs and provide incredible panoramic views of pure nature.
Beaches like El Mónsul , Los Genoveses or Playazo de Rodalquilar may be some of the most desired beaches in Spain and are, without a doubt, one of the things to see on your visit to Almería.
